Aix-en-Provence

June and July have been a sunny and warm month, spending 3 weeks in the south of France with the Philharmonia Orchestra for the Festival in Aix-en-Provence. Temperatures hit record highs in the south of France during my time there, air-conditioning in the Grand Theatre Provence was much appreciated! Performances were of Kurt Weill’s opera The Rise and Fall of the City and Mahagonny (conducted by Essa-Pekka Salonen and stage direction by Ivo van Hove) and Gottfried Huppertz’s Metropolis with live screening.
